SAFEKEEPING by Karen Hesse

SAFEKEEPING  by Karen Hesse

4 stars

This YA noevl is told partially in pictures. The pictures are lovely, the story is at first depressing, but then hopeful.  After the president is assassinated and a splinter - almost terrorist group - takes over the USA, a teenager returns home to discover her parents missing. With no money and on the run from the "authorities”, she flees to Canada on foot.  Along the way she meets helpful people and very scary people and learns she has much more self reliance than she had ever imagined. A great book for teenagers.
(I received this book free from the publisher.)
